Chase ends with arrest inside restaurant

A pursuit had an unexpected ending Tuesday night when a man fleeing from police ran into a restaurant.

No one was injured when the was found hiding inside Tiendaís Restaurant.

The pursuit started after 7 p.m. when Officer Raul Lopez  clocked a pickup going 37 mph on Fifth Street . He turned on his emergency lights and began following the westbound 1990 Chevrolet Silverado.

The driver, a 26-year-old county man, ignored the lawman and turned south on Avenue D. He then headed west, turned into the restaurant parking lot and parked near the rear door of the business.

He got out of the truck and ignored the officerís command to get on the ground. The man told Lopez he wouldnít get down in the mud, a report said.
