South Plains Community Action Association has received part of a $2.1 million Early Head Start-Child Care Partnership grant.
The agency has received $500,000 and the funds will be used to renovate facilities in Lubbock County for the new 0-3 year-old program, said Irma Guerra, division director of Head Start & Early Head Start.
ìWeíre hoping that since we got it for Lubbock County, that we may be able to get some of this in the future for rural counties,î Mrs. Guerra said.
The funds will be used for playground improvements and classroom modifications that include a requirement of two sinks for each classroom.
The program will be administered out of Levelland.
