County inks agreements on turbines, solar panels

An amended and restated tax abatement agreements between the county and Red Raider Wind LLC was OKd Monday by county commissioners.

County Judge Larry Sprowls told commissioners that some wording changes in the  agreements had been approved by County Attorney Anna Hord and representatives of Red Raider Wind.

The agreements detail the terms and descriptions of eligible properties in two Hockley County Wind Reinvestment zones that will be  exempt from ad valorem taxes after wind turbines and/or solar panels are installed.

The abatement period is for 10 years.

As part of the agreement, Red Raider Winder will pay $1,500 per megawatt per year to the county for installed turbine/panel nameplate capacity during a 10-year period.
