Local grand jury indicts 27 people

Twenty-seven people were indicted here Wednesday for such offenses as drug possession, burglary and assault.

Stephen Matthew Alderman, 30, of Levelland was indicted for possession of a controlled substance.

A state trooper stopped Alderman the night of Dec. 4, 2014 for failure to use a turn signal. Two plastic baggies containing more than .40 of a gram of meth were found in the defendantís vehicle.

Jencey Hy Almager, 27, of Levelland was indicted for theft of a firearm and aggravated robbery.
Almager was a passenger in a vehicle that was stopped by Levelland police last September. A handgun that had been stolen in Lubbock was found in his possession.

Anthony Michael Sneed, 34, of Levelland was indicted for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
Sneed was driving a car that had been rented by Joe Alan Shakespeare, who had loaned it to a woman. Her boyfriend, Sneed, then began driving the car, according to records.
