Jack E. Wardlow III was named the recipient of the 2015 Jerry Barton Service Achievement Award Wednesday during a special luncheon program hosted by south Plains College.
He was one of five nominees for the annual award which recognizes the spirit of volunteerism that makes a difference in the quality of life in Levelland.
Also recognized were: Pat Blair, who was nominated by the Levelland Marigolds, Elgin Conner, who was nominated by the Levelland Noon Lions Club; Jason Sanchez, who was nominated by the Levelland Braeakfast Rotary Club, and the Levelland Lioness Club.
The Levelland Noon Rotary Club served as hosts for the meeting with Dr. George Payne calling the meeting to order and a club member, Joe Tubb, providing the program which included a recap of the successes of SPC athletic programs and the signing of two new basketball players, sisters Elizabeth and Sujei Cera to the Lady Texan basketball program, and the signing of a third athlete, Lindsey Sharp, to the SPC Rodeo Team as a break-away and team roper.
Wardlow was nominated for the award by the Levelland Kiwanis Club. He has been a member of that service club since 1996 and has served as president six times and Lt. Governor three times.
