Eleven fallen peace officers.
Those officers who lost their lives in the line of duty last year in Texas were remembered here Wednesday.
More than 100 people attending the annual Law Enforcement Memorial at South Plains College paused to reflect on the sacrifices that officers make for their fellow citizens.
Randy Robertson, a department chair and law enforcement technology instructor, said it has been an honor to serve with people who put people before them.
Next week, 30 new cadets will begin the college’s law enforcement academy. Robertson said those young men and women will be trained to dedicate their lives to the protection of others.
ìThank you,î he told the crowd. ‘We are here to celebrate the lives of those who gave their ultimate sacrifice.’
