Anton pursuit ends with arrests in Lubbock

A pursuit that started in Anton when a deputy attempted to stop a vehicle ended Wednesday night in Lubbock after the driver abandoned his vehicle.

Deputy Jared Johnson was dispatched to a home in the 100 block of Edwards Street in Anton  in reference to a man with a gun.

The lawman obtained information including a vehicle description and the name of a suspect who was supposed to be armed with a handgun.

A short time later, Johnson spotted a vehicle matching the description of the suspectís vehicle at Fifth and Duggan. He also saw a fight just before the suspects fled, a report said.

He followed the suspects, who fled  toward Lubbock on U.S. Highway 84. During the pursuit, several people in the vehicle tossed evidence out windows and the driver attempted several times to ram officersí vehicles.

The pursuit ended in the 7500 block of Interstate 27 when the driver fled on foot. He was apprehended minutes later. A man and a woman in the vehicle were also taken into custody.
