juneteenth activities to start

Games, music, a fashion show and memories will be shared this week when the community marks the 26th annual Juneteenth  Day celebration in Levelland.

All of the activities will be held at L.G. Griffin, Northside City Park, and the Carver School.

The festivities will kick off at 8 p.m. Thursday, June 18, with bingo and dominoes in the Carver cafeteria. Prizes will be awarded.

A basketball tournament will start at 6 p.m. Friday in the Carver gym. The entry fee is $20 per team.

Fashion show rehearsals will follow in the Carver cafeteria starting at 7 p.m. Music and memories will be shared beginning at 8 p.m. at Northside City Park.

The celebration will continue at 11 a.m. Saturday at the park, where childrenís games and activities will be staged. Prizes will be given away.
