Early Settlers’ Day festivities planned Saturday

The 54th annual Early Settlers’ Day celebration will kick off Saturday, July 11, in Levelland.

The festivities will be highlighted by a parade, childrenís games, food, crafts, live music, an art show, an antique tractor show and more.

‘Red, White and You’ is the theme of this year’s celebration.

The fun will start with a pancake breakfast served from 6:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. by the Breakfast Rotary Club at Houston Street and Avenue G. Tickets are $6 a person.

Parade entries will be accepted until 5 p.m. today (Wednesday) at the Chamber of Commerce office, 1101 Avenue H.

This yearís parade will follow the same route as last year, but it will start 30 minutes later.

Vendors will also have their stands out in the street, giving merchants room for customers to come into their stores, said Mary Siders, Chamber of Commerce president.

‘It will give merchants the opportunity that day to have customers in their stores,’ Siders said.
