Permits top $6 million in city in June

One building permit worth $5.7 million was issued last month in Levelland, giving contractors a major boost.

The permit was awarded to McCutchin Construction, which is overseeing a major remodeling of Levelland Intermediate School.

The work is already under way at the school on Avenue D and is expected to be completed in the summer of 2016.

It is the latest phase of the overall project to remodel the 60+year-old building.

Last summer, the school auditorium was remodeled and an exterior hallway for handicapped individuals was built. Construction workers also updated a gym floor.

City officials awarded 46 permits valued at $6,189,756 in June, pushing the year-to-date total to $24,5213,023.

Three permits valued at $7,250 were approved for mobile homes in Levelland last month.

Two worth $48,000 were approved for remodeling homes in the city.

The remaining 40 permits, valued at a total of $434,506, were for  such work as roofing projects, carports, curb cuts and an accessory building.
