LEDC rejects rail park bid as too expensive

A bid for street and wastewater expansions at Levelland Industrial Rail Park was rejected as too costly Thursday.

The Levelland Economic Development Corporation rejected a bid of $819,600 from West Texas Paving.

It was ‘significantly over’ the engineer’s Opinion of Probable Cost of $474,000, said Erik Rejino, interim executive director of the LEDC.

The bid was opened Monday, Rejino said, adding that a second bid was also submitted but came in too late to be considered.

‘We are back to the drawing board,’ Rejino said.

The project includes extending streets and a wastewater line in the rail park.
