Park’s needs identified during joint meeting

A city board held a meeting Tuesday to discuss the park system  and upgrades that need to be made.

City Park was the major topic of discussion, not only because it is the biggest park, but because it contains so many fields and buildings.

In City Park alone, there are nine soccer fields, seven baseball fields, four softball fields, three volleyball courts, a swimming pool, two activity centers, a basketball court, three awnings with playgrounds, four horseshoe pits, a 22-hole disc golf course, a walking track and the Civic Center.

Michael Wiiest made a motion that the Levelland Community Development Corporation recommend that the city council designate $300,000 for capital improvements and  look at priorities at a later date. The motion was seconded by Frankie Ruiz and accepted by all board members present.
