Board recommends seven park projects

The Levelland Community Development Corporation voted in favor of $352,000 worth of  park improvements Wednesday.

The boardís recommendations must now go before the Levelland City Council for final approval.

Board members considered $308,500 worth of improvements at the adult softball field in City Park before paring it down to one expenditure of $185,000. That money will be spent on six new light poles for the field.

Michael Wiiest wondered if the other needs at the field could be addressed first. They include infield dirt work, an irrigation system and fence work.

‘Anything is possible,’ said John Cobb, director of Parks and Grounds, ‘but I’d say lighting is the biggest deficiency.’
