A downsized bid for a rail park project was accepted and a new executive director was announced Thursday by the Levelland Economic Development Corporation.
The board gave the nod to a bid of $572469 from West Infrastructure LLC of Lubbock.
M&S Concrete Co. Of Levelland came in second with a bid of $593,550.
Erik Rejino, director of Community Development, said the new bid includes putting in a ramp and a concrete street extending south from Texas 114 into Levelland Industrial Rail Park.
The street will be part of what will be Progressive Place Loop. The concrete will connect with caliche which will tie in with an existing concrete road on the east side of the park.
Workers will also extend a wastewater line north to tie in with a property being developed by the Penny Newman Grain Co.
The company is building a rail spur in the park and will also install two concrete pads, each with 40,000 square feet of space. The company is building a cottonseed transloading facility there.
