Sales tax payments were up again this month for Texas as a whole, but they plummeted for Levelland and several other area towns.
Payments totaling $638.1 million were mailed to taxing entities across the Lone Star state, marking a 1.7 percent increase from last September.
Cities netted $417.9 million this month, a gain of 2.4 percent in a yearís time.
However, the $39.6 million that counties earned was down 5.5 percent from a year ago.
Austin sent $143 million to transit systems, which was up 1.2 percent.
The $37.6 million that special purpose taxing districts netted represented a gain of 2.8 percent in a yearís time.
Levelland received a payment of $257,253, which was down 21.73 percent from its September 2014 payment of $328,684.
