Construction still strong; new home starts lagging
The building trades had another strong month in August when $5.53 million worth of building permits were issued in Levelland.
One permit worth $5 million was issued to Roy Owens Construction.
The company is building a transloading facility in Levelland Industrial Rail Park.
When that work is finished, the Penny Newman Co. will accept cottonseed by truck and ship it out by rail.
A total of 26 permits was issued by the city last month.
Two of them, valued at $110,000, were for remodeling dwellings.
Those permits came on the heels of another strong month: Nearly $2.5 million in permits were awarded here in July.
