Two doctors and a business owner were among those honored  Friday during the Levelland Chamber of Commerce & Main Street Program’s annual Volunteer Recognition Luncheon.

Dr. Weerachai and Suvipa Wiri received the Lifetime Achievement award.

The two physicians, who grew up in Thailand, have devoted themselves to countless patients since moving to Levelland in 1982.

‘They made a lot of lasting contributions all the way to Levelland and continue to do today,’ said Jim Mara.

The couple was named ‘Man and Woman’ of the Year in 2003, and received the Distinguished Citizen of the Year award from the South Plains chapter of the Boy Scouts in 2012.

They have also been very committed to overseas medical mission work.

‘Thank you for all the many things you have done in Levelland over the years, many in silence with no recognition,’ Mara said. ‘You leave a tremendous legacy here.’
