DeRenda Warren said she will fight for farmers and veterans, and push for health savings accounts if elected to Congress.
The Smyer woman, who is running for the Texas 19th U.S. Congressional District position, made those comments during an appearance Monday in Levelland.
Running as a Republican, Warren said she is a fifth-generation Texan who grew up on a farm and ranch near Fritch.
‘My work ethic started as a girl. I helped my brothers and sisters; that work ethic worked well for me,’ she said. ‘I was able to play basketball, and I went on to finish my undergraduate degree at Tech.’
Warren said the United States faces unprecedented changes at home and abroad.
‘The United States has a daunting task in front of us, and it’s time for a fresh start,’ she said. ‘I am not a longtime politician, but I understand that weíve got some great changes that have to be made.’
