The Levelland Economic Development Corporation board approved added expenses for a Rail Park project Thursday and accepted a bid for a new website.
Assistant City Manager Erik Rejino and John Clary, the new executive director for the LEDC, shared duties on informing the board during the meeting.
An ongoing improvement project at Levelland Industrial Rail Park is costing $1,606,153.
However, additional expenses will add $26,760 to the overall cost, said Rejino.
The biggest part of the increase is $21,500 that will be used to install rail scales for Penny Newman, which is building a cottonseed transloading facility in the park.
The plan for the rail scales was not complete when the initial plans were drawn and were left off, according to an executive summary provided the board.
Penny Newman bought the scales and it was assumed that the company would pay for the installation, Rejino said.
After some discussion, it was agreed that the LEDC would pay for the cost of installing rail on the scales, he said.
