Man shot while in vehicle
A man was shot by someone in a passing vehicle early Tuesday afternoon.
The victim, whose name was unavailable, told officers that he was struck in the mouth by a bullet. He went to the hospital emergency room here for treatment and was then transported to a Lubbock hospital.
The shooting may be related to a shots fired incident that was reported a short time earlier.
Police received a call at 11:42 a.m. about gunshots in the vicinity of Houston Street and West Avenue. A short time later, officers found two empty shell casings from a handgun in the 1700-1800 blocks of West Houston Street.
They then responded to the 1700 block of Avenue I where they found the windshield of a Chevrolet Tahoe had been hit by two bullets. One of the slugs hit the victim, said police Capt. Tammie McDonald.
No arrests have been made in the case.
