First freeze chills county

The first freeze of the fall arrived early Friday morning in Levelland, Anton and other areas.

A cold front that pushed into the region Thursday sent the mercury falling overnight Thursday.

The freeze in Levelland occurred when the temperature dropped to 32 degrees at 3:15 a.m. It bottomed out at 29 degrees at 5:35 a.m. before rising to 33 degrees at 7:50 a.m.

Temperatures in Anton dipped to a low of 31.3 degrees, according to the West Texas Mesonet.
