The Whiteface Marching Band e-arned a third place win and a lot of memories in the state marching contest this past week.
The band under the direction of Dan McCasland won No. 3 honors Tuesday among five six-man bands competing at the Alamodome in San Antonio.
‘It was almost a perfect show. They did great all day long,’ McCasland said. ‘We’re very proud to get third in the state.’
In the finals, the Whiteface Antelope Marching Band earned a composite score of 14, behind Nueces Canyon and Ropes.
The five judges gave Whiteface scores of 2, 3, 2,3 and 4.
Crosbyton came in fourth place with 17 points while Wink received 24.
In the prelims, Whiteface tied with Nueces Canyon for first place, with each ensemble having a composite score of 16 points.
The two bands outscored 13 other schools in the prelims.
McCasland said the 71-member ensemble excelled.
‘We just had a great time. We really stepped up in the preliminaries,î he said. ìWe had a blast, we had great community support. It was very exciting.’
