Man dies in shooting Friday night

Authorities were looking for a man Friday night after he shot a man who later died.

The victim, whose name was unavailable, died early Friday evening at Covenant Hospital Levelland, according to police.

Police and sheriffís deputies  responded to the 100 block of House Street at 5:45 p.m. after a police dispatcher received a call about shots fired.

Lawmen blocked off House Street between Jefferson Street and Texas 114 while they spoke to witnesses.

Several sheriff’s deputies carrying AR-15s and a police sergeant with a dog searched the area on foot but did not locate the suspect.

The man, who was believed to be armed with a rifle, is known to police, said Sgt. Craig Hancock.

An arrest warrant was issued for him.

He was described as a white male with a medium build. He has blonde hair, blue eyes and a pale complex.

He was believed to be in a blue or other dark-colored pickup truck.

The man remained at large Friday night.
