Jorge De La Cruz has announced his candidacy for sheriff of Cochran County.
He filed for the office last week and will be running as a Republican.
If elected, his goal will be ‘To bring a proactive approach to the Sheriffís Office and to provide leadership. I want to develop a relationship with the community and restore confidence in the department.’
The Cochran County Sheriffís Department has seven officers in patrol, including the sheriff, four dispatchers and three jailers. De La Cruz vows to be a working sheriff.
‘My biggest deal is that the Sheriff’s Department has to be involved in the community,’ he says, stressing that he wants it to be proactive in its approach and to have accountability.
