City still dealing with storm’s impact

While piles of snow continue to be hazards in Levelland streets, garbage service should begin returning to normal this week.

Republic Services notified the city  that it would begin running collection routes on Monday.
It will be a while, though, before service is up to normal standards.

To help with the collection issue, the city will continue accepting  bagged garbage at the Transfer Station, 902 A&M Lane.

ìThe City of Levelland will continue to accept household bagged garbage at the Levelland Transfer Station,î said Assistant City Manager Erik Rejino.

The facility is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

City employees were scheduled to begin removing snow and ice from alleys this week to make them accessible to Republicís trucks.

‘There are still many alleys and roads that will not be accessible,’ Rejino said. ‘We’ll start the process of clearing the alleys where we can.’

Municipal employees worked both Saturday and Sunday to clear snow from roads leading to Levelland schools, making them usable for buses and private vehicles.

‘They focused on the schools,’ he said. ‘At this point, they’re continuing to work on the east and west main roads.’
