Preliminary spring enrollment figures for the South Plains College system are off from a year ago, regents were advised Thursday.
Figures as of Thursday showed total enrollments of 8,069 students compared to 8,456 on Jan. 15, 2015, said Cathy Mitchell, vice president for Student Affairs.
That is down 4.6 percent compared to a year ago.
‘We are continuing to enroll students through next week,’ Mitchell said. ‘We’re hoping these numbers will go up.’
While numbers overall are down, enrollments for the Levelland campus totaled 6,162, which was up 2.7 percent from a year ago.
Mitchell said her office is watching the Reese campus, where enrollments are down 246 students, or 9.1 percent, from last January.
