State closes Children’s Hope facilities

Children were removed  from the Childrenís Hope West  and Lubbock campuses Monday  afternoon by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services.

Children were not removed from Children’s Hopes Washington Street campus.

The children were allowed to take personal possessions and were loaded onto a bus labeled Emergency Management BCFS.  BCFS Emergency Management Division provides emergency support services to federal, state and local governments, as well as private businesses and institutions. A call to the San Antonio headquarters was not returned but a representative said  BCFS is a contractor to the state. Childrenís Hope employees watched and waved as the children were loaded onto the waiting bus around 3 p.m.

Texas Department of Family and Protective Services notified James Aldrich, chief executive officer for Children’s Hope Residential Services by electronic and certified mail on Friday, Jan. 29, that it was suspending placements in both facilities.
