Richard Ellis makes bid for college regent

Richard Ellis would like to give back to the college that he first attended after high school.

Ellis is a candidate for the position of Place 3 regent with South Plains College.

‘Education has been a great blessing in my life, and Iíd like to do what I can to help make that dream a reality for others,’ he said.

He attended SPC after graduating from Levelland High School. He graduated with both a BBA and an MPA from the University of Texas.

Ellis practiced public accounting in Houston for five years before returning to Levelland and purchasing Musslewhite Trucking in 1999.

His vision for the college is simple.

‘South Plains College must continue improving its offering of an education that is superior in both quality and affordability to other options in the marketplace,’ he said. ‘Ideally, this would happen while gradually lessening the burden to local taxpayers as our tax base declines. To accomplish these goals takes much efforts.’
