Levelland minors detained early Saturday morning

Four Levelland minors were detained around 1 a.m. Saturday after officers found three air soft guns and a pocketknife on the individuals.

Officers responded to the area around South Elementary around 11:30 p.m. Friday after receiving reports of criminal mischief in the area.

An officer found the juveniles hiding under a carport. They were detained when an officer found what appeared to be a Ruger handgun. The weapon turned out to be a Daisy power line BB .177 air soft gun. The officers discovered two more air soft guns and a pocketknife.

The four juvenile individuals were cited for violating City Ordinance 856, in regards to persons discovered in or about premises under suspicious circumstances, punishable as a Class C misdemeanor. The minors were then released to their guardians.
