The Levelland City Council met for an hour in executive session Monday night to discuss several items, including the employment of City Manager Rick Osburn.

After 36 years of service, Osburn turned in his retirement notice to the city council, effective January 29, 2018.

As a result, Osburn recommended the city enter into employment negotiations with Erik Rejino, assistant city manager, to take over upon Osburn’s effective retirement.

“I move that we begin employment negotiations with Assistant City Manager Erik Rejino as the city manager upon the current city manager’s retirement, and authorize the city manger to conduct necessary background checks on the candidate,” said Joe Bill Vardeman as he made the motion to the city council.

The city council voted to approve the recommendation.
