The Hockley County Sheriff’s Department has arrested one suspect, Payden Shaine Allen, 18, in regards to a homicide investigation.
Allen faces a murder charge and is being held on a $250,000 bond at the Hockley County Jail.
Sheriff Ray Scifres said at approximately 8:30 p.m. Saturday, June 10, deputies were dispatched to a residence in the 6800 block of Nevada Road in reference to a deceased individual.
Deputies were notified by neighbors that Brandon Allen, 47, was found deceased in the residence.
The 286th Judicial District Attorney’s office and the Texas Rangers were notified and assisted in the homicide investigation at the request of the sheriff’s office.
Brandon Allen died of an apparent gunshot wound. Based on information collected during the investigation, Payden Shaine Allen was identified as a suspect in the indcident.
During the early morning hours of Sunday, June 11, Payden Allen was located by authorities in Lubbock and interviewed by the Texas Rangers.
Payden Allen was later taken into custody in Lubbock for a murder charge based on a warrant obtained by Hockley County authorities.
“We grieve for the family and friends of those involved in this tragedy and offer our continued prayers and support,” said a statement released by Sheriff Scifres, Sunday. “Due to the cooperation of multiple agencies, an arrest was made of the individual believed to be responsible for this tragedy within hours of the incident.”
Allen was later book into the Hockley County Jail. The case is still ongoing and under investigation.
