The Levelland City Council will meet Monday at 6 p.m. to consider Ordinance No. 1022, increasing utility rates, on second reading.
The ordinance was approved on first reading at the August 28 city council meeting. Ordinance No. 1022 will raise the water availability rate by $1, the water rate by five percent, garbage rate by 3.25 percent and sewer rate by 15 percent.
The second reading is the last reading before the ordinance becomes effective.
Other items on the agenda include:
–Charity Scott, stop sign on property;
–Resolution 2017-19 adopting the fiscal year budget;
–Ratify the property tax increase reflected in the proposed fiscal year budget;
–Approve Ordinance No. 1024 setting the 2017 tax rate;
–Take action on the event application for the Falladazzle Festival scheduled October 13;
–Take action on bids for the park system playground project;
–Resolution 2017-20 authorizing the submission of a grant application to the Texas Parks and Wildlife for a Small Community Grant Program;
–Resolution 2017-21 suspending Southwestern Public Service Company’s proposed effective date in connection with its statement of intent to increase its base-rate revenue;
–Ordinance No. 1021 regulating the installation of wireless communication poles and equipment in the city’s right of way on second and final reading;
–Ordinance No. 1023 amending Article 3.800 regarding the use of public right of way and the use of municipal facilities on a second and final reading;
–Hold a public hearing on Ordinance No. 1025 regarding proposed changes amending the zoning regulations establishing additional criteria for accessory buildings in SF-1 Restrict Single Family Districts and SF-2 Single Family Districts; and
–Take action on Ordinance No. 1025 on first reading.
