Bomb threat reported at Levelland Intermediate School

Students and faculty have been evacuated from the Levelland Intermediate School after a note was found inside the building indicating a bomb was going to go off at 3 p.m., according to Police Chief Albert Garcia.

The threat was reported at approximately 2:30 p.m.

The Levelland Police Department has set up a command post at Lobo Lake and created a block perimeter around the school.

Levelland Intermediate School houses fourth and fifth graders.

Parents can pick their children up on the north side of the administration building and an officer will direct you where to go. Buses will still pick students up from the administration building.

The Lubbock Sheriffs Office is also responding to the scene. Chief Garcia said the department will utilize its bomb squad canine unit to do a sweep of the building for any explosives. The bomb squad arrived on scene at approximately 4 p.m.

Chief Garcia said the department was unsure at this time who wrote the note that was found in a boy’s bathroom. However, he said there is video footage of the hall where the bathroom is located and they will be able to access that for the investigation.

We will keep this story updated as we learn more.
