Levelland police officers have arrested a 15-year-old high school student in reference to making a false report at the school, Friday.
Albert Garcia, Levelland Police Chief, said the student who was arrested told another student a third bomb threat had been found in the bathroom at the high school. However, when administrators interviewed the student, he said there was not a threat found. Bomb threats were received at the Levelland Intermediate School, Wednesday; and the Levelland Middle School on Thursday.
The student has been charged with making a false report, which is a state jail felony, Garcia said.
Friday morning, Garcia and Jeff Northern, superintendent at LISD, addressed rumors circulating on social media as untrue. There was heightened security at the school as a precaution, but classes continued as normal.
A 15-year-old middle school student was arrested Thursday in reference to a bomb threat found on the campus. She was taken to the Lubbock county Juvenile Justice Center and is facing a felony terroristic threat charge.
Police said they are currently interviewing a male student from the Levelland Intermediate School in reference to Wednesday’s bomb threat. They have not named a suspect but Chief Garcia said investigators are confident the case will be resolved soon.
