Levelland Police Chief Albert Garcia has confirmed that a 15-year-old eighth grade suspect was taken into custody in reference to the Thursday bomb threat at the Levelland Middle School. Garcia said the girl is a student at Levelland Middle School.

He said the suspect has acknowledged her involvement in Thursday’s threat. She was taken to the Lubbock County Juvenile Justice Center. Her detention hearing has been set for Monday morning. Garcia said the student is facing a charge of felony terroristic threat.

The bomb threat was called in at approximately 11:20 a.m. at the middle school after school officials were informed of a note that indicated a bomb would detonate at the school. A similar bomb threat was called in Wednesday afternoon at the Levelland Intermediate School where a note was found in a boy’s bathroom saying a bomb would go off at 3 p.m.

Garcia also indicated that detectives feel they will soon have a suspect in the bomb threat made at the intermediate school, Wednesday.

‘Investigators are still working diligently on the threat made at the intermediate school,’ Garcia said. ‘They feel they will also have that case resolved soon.’
