Housing Authority names new executive director

The Levelland Housing Authority board of directors named Olga Gonzales to be its new executive director.

Gonzales has served as the bookkeeper at the Hockley County Senior Citizens Association for the past eight years. She also served as a leasing agent and property manager for two apartment complexes over a nine-year period.

“We are excited to have Olga join our organization,” said Lisa Lisa Hanna, board chair.

Hanna said the board considered eight applicants for the position.

Gonzales will be responsible for approximately 50 housing units in three locations in Levelland. She will work directly with the board of directors and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to ensure the proper management of the properties.

“Opportunities like this do not open up every day,” Gonzales said. “I have enjoyed my time at the Hockley County Senior Citizens Association and am looking forward to a new challenge.

Gonzales will take over as executive director April 2. Erik Rejino, Levelland city manager, has served as interim executive director since the former director was federally indicted for stealing federal funds in October. Initially, Rick Osburn, former city manager, was named the interim director. Upon his retirement in January, Rejino assumed the responsibilities.
