One-car rollover sends two to hospital

The driver and passenger involved in a one-vehicle rollover Wednesday were transported to a Lubbock hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according the Department of Public Safety.

The accident was reported at approximately 4:15 p.m. Wednesday, east of Ropesville, on U.S. Highway 62/82. The driver, Ramiro Tobias, 29, of Lubbock and his wife were transported by Levelland EMS to a Lubbock hospital.

DPS was the investigating agency at the scene and Sergeant John Gonzalez with DPS said both occupants were wearing seatbelts.

Additionally, DPS responded to a reported hit and run on Highway 114 at FM 168 in Smyer around 3 p.m. Wednesday.

Sgt. Gonzalez said that a Nissan Ultima was stopped at the railroad tracks when it was struck by behind by an unknown vehicle. The second vehicle then fled the scene.

The driver, Kaylee Garner, 17, of Smyer, was taken to the hospital by private vehicle, Gonzalez said.
