The City of Levelland has begun clean-up efforts for spring by placing its seven roll-off containers at various locations through town.
The locations of the roll-off containers are at Kauffman Park, Jefferson Street and Martin Luther King, Brookhollow and South College Avenue, 3rd Street and Avenue D, 1700 Avenue H, Lee Street and Avenue Q, and the Levelland Recycling Center, located west of the intersection of A&M Lane and Alamo Road.
“This gives people an opportunity to clean up everything,” said Erik Rejino, city manager.
He said the reason the city times the placement of the containers around town to this time is because people are generally doing their “spring cleaning.”
“It’s right before spring, everyone starts ramping up their lawns and the weather starts getting nicer,” Rejino said. “Placing these containers around town makes it more convenient for people.”
Items that are not allowed to be put into the roll-off containers include: used oil or filters, tires, loose paper, appliances, metals, dirt or concrete, chemicals or chemical containers of any kind, radioactive or hazardous material, liquids, car or truck batters, and rechargeable cell phone batteries.
However, most of the items not allowed in the containers are accepted at the Levelland Recycling Center or the Levelland Landfill, located at 3590 Bobwhite Road of FM 1585.
Radioactive or hazardous material of any kind are not accepted at any location, nor are chemical or chemical containers of any kind.
