Police arrest two suspects in Sunday shooting

Two men have been arrested after one person was transported to the hospital, Sunday, with a gunshot wound.

Matthew Paul Cruz, 20, and Canyon Brent Faull, 19, were arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Both men are being held on a bond of $250,000 each for the aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charge. Cruz is also being held on a $5,000 bond for unlawful possession of a firearm and Faull has a $5,000 bond for a charge of tampering or fabricating evidence.

Police were dispatched to the scene at approximately 7:27 p.m. Sunday in reference to shots fired. Upon arrival, first responders found Matthew Ryan Sanchez, 27, injured with a gunshot wound. He was transported to a Lubbock hospital and as of Monday morning was listed in serious condition, police said.

A 12-gauge shotgun was recovered at the scene, according to Levelland Police Chief Albert Garcia.

Officers were on scene until early Monday morning collecting evidence and processing the scene.

Police are still investigating and we will update this story as we learn more.
