The Hockley County Sheriff’s Department is working an ongoing investigation that involves narcotics, stolen firearms and vehicles.
The investigation originated with a report of an ongoing assault on June 10 in the 200 block of Duggan Street in Anton.
Deputies responded and met with Jimmy Jiminez, 48, of Anton.
The man told deputies they could search the residence for the supposed victim. During a consent search of the residence, the deputy observed a quantity of narcotics in plain view.
As a result of the deputy’s observations, the department secured a search warrant and returned to the residence.
After a search of the residence, the deputies recovered an amount of methamphetamine between four and 200 grams, eight firearms including handguns and rifles, of which three were reported stolen; and two vehicles that returned as stolen.
Jiminez was placed under arrest and charged with the stolen vehicle charges. He bonded out of the jail on June 12 on two bonds of $2,500.
Hockley County Sheriff Ray Scifres said the three guns that returned as stolen were out of Lubbock and Midland counties.
One of the guns has been returned to its owner.
The two vehicles appeared to have been dismantled, Scifres said. Because of this, the Auto Theft Task Force was requested to assist in the investigation.
Additionally, Scifres said deputies recovered various pills that will result in a charge of possession of a controlled substance, penalty group three, more than 28 grams. Scifres said that charge is also a felony.
Scifres said this is an ongoing investigation and there will be more arrests and charges coming.
