The Texas Rangers were called to assist the Cochran County Sheriff’s Department with a “questionable death” investigation Monday after a body was found in a field.
A Cochran County investigator said the call was received around 12:30 p.m.
Lt. Bryan Witt with the Department of Public Safety said a passerby discovered the body of a deceased adult male in a remote area approximately three miles southwest of Morton.
Positive identification of the body and cause of death are pending medical examiner findings and an autopsy is scheduled for today, Wednesday, September 5.
