Anna Hord, county attorney for Hockley County, has officially filed a petition for the removal of Michael Lance Scott from office as the constable for Precinct No. 5 in Hockley County.
“He has showed gross ignorance of his official duties, gross carelessness in his official duties and an unfitness or inability to properly discharge his official duties,” Hord told the News-Press Tuesday.
The court document, which was filed Thursday, March 14, says the Texas Local Government Code provides for the removal a constable from office for incompetency, official misconduct or intoxication.
