Mamie Helen Taylor

Mamie Helen Taylor 95, of Gilmer Texas, passed away September 1, 2019, surrounded by family and friends.
Mamie was born August 26, 1924, in Cook County Texas. The daughter of the late Ruby Fay and Rube Vance Hudgens.
She was a graduate of Whiteface High School.
Mamie Helen married John Taylor Jr. in 1943, they settled in Whiteface, to start their life together, then to Longview, Texas, in the mid 1970s, Where they built their forever home.
She was employed by, Olen Mills, JC Penny Co. and Nieman Marcus, where she was praised for outstanding work ethics and earned many awards.  She retired at age 80.
Mamie’s passions were  writing notes, letters and collecting keepsakes.
She is survived by one daughter, Dorenda Taylor Shipley, of Gilmer; her grandchildren, Beverly Jernigan  of Longview and John Jeffrey Lyons of Houston; great-grandchildren: KT Anderson of Longview, Kody Jernigan of Monroe, Louisiana,  Chelse Lyons and  Charles Aaron Lyons, both of Houston; and two great- great-grandchildren, Chais Anderson and Malachi Carter Brooks.
Mamie was preceded in death by her husband, John Taylor, Jr.; her parents, Ruby Fay and Rube Hudgens; and a brother, Warden Hudgens.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
