Matthew Ledesma

Funeral services for Matthew Ledesma, 39, Wolfforth and Lubbock, formerly of Levelland,
will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday October 24, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church of Levelland with Rev. Martin Pena officiating and the Ledesma family singing.
Burial will follow in the City of Levelland Cemetery of Levelland, under the direction of  Head Duarte Funeral Home of Levelland.
Visitation will be held from 9  a.m. until 9 p.m. Tuesday, October 22, at Head Duarte Funeral Home Chapel with the reciting of the Rosary to be held at 7 p.m.
Visitation will continue Wednesday, October 23, at Head Duarte Funeral Home Chapel  from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. and will continue at St. Michael’s Catholic Church at 5:30 p.m. with the reciting of the Rosary to be held at 7 p.m.
He passed away Wednesday, October 16, 2019, in Wolfforth.
Matthew was born February 10,1980, to Maximo and Janie Ledesma in Lubbock.
He was a 1998 graduate of Levelland High School and continued his education at South Plains College.
Matthew received many awards throughout his years. 
He was an integral part of taking both choir and band teams to state; he was in the state choir and state band. His choir instructor lovingly referred to him as “the voice.” 
Matthew worked for Head Duarte Funeral Home for three years as an assistant funeral director and singer for the families they served.   
He also worked as a Health Environmental Specialist for Oxy Corporation. 
Matthew was known as ‘the safety guy” and was a dedicated employee for more than 10 years.
His passion was ensuring that everyone exercised safety. He gave several presentations on safety awareness. 
Matthew was also a well known, talented Tejano and Latino singer, songwriter, musician and guitarist. He made several major hits over the past 25 years.  
He was a member of several bands including Peligro, Adagio and Dezolado.
Matthew was a philanthropist. He held fundraisers and made large donations to  hurricane victims, as well as hosting benefit dances for those in need. He gave of himself endlessly. 
His passion was writing songs and playing music and he enjoyed playing golf as a hobby.
Matthew was an avid Texas Tech fan and always wore his Tech gear.
Even during his quiet moments, he would start joking around and making people laugh.
Matthew touched many peoples lives with his beautiful smile, loving kindness and compassionate ways. 
He was very much a gentleman and was very humble and considerate of others.  
Matthew especially loved spending time with his children, family, friends and his fans. He will be greatly missed by everyone.
He is survived by his parents, Maximo and Janie Ledesma; and grandmother, Aurora Romo, all of Levelland; daughter, Devyn Renae Ledesma (Cole Buchanan) of Lubbock; sons: Mattax Ledesma and Brendyn Ledesma both of Wolfforth; sisters: Melissa (Tony) Armstrong, Mary Lou Ledesma, Michelle (Anthony) Cervantez, Melinda Ledesma of San Antonio; and brother, Max Ledesma III of Midland.
Pallbearers include: Robert Rios, Steven Rios, Freddie Martinez, Jake Soto, Fred Vitoles, Jacinto Vela and Richard Guerra.
Honorary pallbearers include: Max Ledesma III, Juan Gamez, Joel Gonzales, Jerry Gonzales, Anthony Cervantez, Fred Gonzales, Jr. and Timothy Sanchez.
