The Levelland Main Street program nominated Burklee Hill for the award, which was announced Wednesday night at the Texas Downtown Conference in Georgetown.
Missy Passmore, manager of the Main Street program, said the organization committee is responsible for coming up with nominations for the President’s Awards through TDA every year.
“We felt like their impact on downtown was significant in the last year and that they would be a good match for that category,” said Jody Drennan, chair of the Main Street Advisory Board.
Elizabeth Hill, owner and operator at Burklee Hill Levelland, attended the Texas Downtown Conference with Passmore and Drennan to receive the award.
“It’s always awesome to see that and it’s really exciting,” Drennan said. “It was great that Elizabeth was able to be there with us.”
Hill said she and her husband, Chace, along with the entire staff at Burklee Hill, were thrilled to learn the business had won the award.
“We were so thrilled, excited, and so appreciative of Missy Passmore, of course, and the whole Main Street crew for nominating us,” Hill said.
Hill said she is grateful to Passmore for taking the time to ensure the application turned in for the winery was as accurate as possible.
“Missy went through a great deal of effort on the application they submitted on our behalf to ensure it was complete and had a lot of information on what we do and how we bring people to Levelland,” Hill said.
