Levelland police investigate suspected murder-suicide

Detectives with the Levelland Police Department are investigating a suspected murder-suicide in the 200 block of Sandalwood after receiving a call around 4 a.m. Monday morning.

At 4:08 a.m. Monday, 911 received a call from a person who advised he needed police at a residence in the 200 block of Sandalwood. When asked for the reason for service, the person advised he had just killed his wife and then disconnected the call.

Officers arrived on scene approximately three minutes after the call was received and found the front door open, at which time they entered the home while announcing their presence.

Police found the body of an elderly female and continued searching the residence when they located the body of an elderly male with a single gunshot wound with pistol in hand.

The age of the subjects was reported to be 79 years old, according to police.

Detectives are still on scene this morning and the crime scene is still under investigation. Police have not released the name of the subjects involved as they are still notifying next of kin. We will update this story as more information becomes available.
