Police arrested Brennon Guerra, 24, Saturday in relation to the fatal shooting of a Levelland man.
Levelland Police Chief Albert Garcia released information regarding the shooting Sunday afternoon. According to Garcia, officers were dispatched to the 400 block of Cedar around 7 p.m. Saturday in reference to shots fired. Upon arrival, officers found a man who appeared to have a single gunshot wound to the torso. The man was transported to Covenant Hospital in Lubbock by Levelland EMS.
During the course of the investigation, Garcia said police received a call from an individual who advised he had shot someone in the 400 block of Cedar and wanted to turn himself in. Officers located the man, who was identified as Guerra, in the 1100 block of Sherman Avenue where he was taken into custody.
Around 10 p.m. Saturday, investigators with the Levelland Police Department learned the victim in the shooting had died of his injuries. Guerra was subsequently charged with murder. He is being held at the Hockley County Jail on a bond of $200,000.
Police have not identified the victim in the shooting, Garcia said, pending proper family notification.
