The agency for the rodeo sent out a press release Monday afternoon announcing the change to the rodeo.
In March, the committee for the 78th ABC Pro Rodeo announced it would postpone the event until the end of May. The most recent announcement ultimately cancels official plans for the 2020 rodeo, postponing it until 2021.
“It is with a heavy heart to announce that the 78th ABC Pro Rodeo will be postponed until 2021,” the release said. “With consideration of the Governor’s Declaration, as well as the anticipated changes in May, the rodeo committee decided postponing until the following year was the only viable option.”
In regards to ticket refunds, ticket holders can contact the location from which they purchased their tickets for refund procedures.
“The ABC Pro Rodeo would like to thank the Hockley County community for all they ahve done to welcome us over the planning of the last year,” the release said. “The ABC Pro Rodeo would like to thank the county and city governments, the Mallet Event Center, the Chamber of Commerce and all of the many businesses who have worked diligently to plan for the 78th ABC Pro Rodeo.”
The committee still intends to book the Mallet Event Center for next year’s rodeo, according to the press release.
“The ABC Pro Rodeo looks forward to continuing to plan the debut of the 78th ABC Pro Rodeo to the Mallet Event Center in early April 2021,” the release concluded.
