Memorial services for Ms. Minerva “Mildred” Montez, 63, of Levelland will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 18 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church with Father Jonathan Phillips officiating.
Reflections of Life will be held on Wednesday, June 17, from 6 until 9 p.m. at Head Duarte Funeral Home. A Rosary will be recited at the funeral home chapel at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
She died Saturday, June 13, 2020 in Levelland. She was born November 26, 1956 in Waxachachie to Samuel Sr. and Juanita Garcia Montez.
She graduated from Levelland High School in May, 1973 and from South Plains College in the late 1970’s with an associate’s degree. Mildred, was employed with Cook Memorial Hospital for six years and worked at the Hockley County Adult Probation Office in Levelland, for several years. She retired from the position of financial administrator and business office manager after 30 years. She was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church of Levelland.
She is survived by her mother: Juanita Garcia Montez of Levelland; her daughters: Corina Villasenor (Brenton “B.R.” Robinson) and Marisa Ortiz and a son, Daniel Ortiz (Rosemary Castro); four grandsons and three granddaughters; seven sisters: Juanita (David) DeLeon of Grand Prairie, Rosario (Raymond) Smith, Mary (Carlos) Solano, Sylvia (Antonio) Valdez, Lydia Guerra, and Gloria (Sixto) Mendez, all of Levelland, and Margie Brooker of Odessa; five brothers: Robert (Mary) Montez of Montrose, Colo., Ronnie (Delia) Montez, Freddie (DeeDee) Montez, and Jimmy Montez, all of Levelland, and Michael (Leanna) Montez of Arlington; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her spouse, Lupe Ortiz; father, Samuel Montez, Sr.; brothers: Roberto Montez and Sam Montez Jr.; and granddaughter, Anniylah Ortiz, and her paternal and maternal grandparents.
