Funeral services for Melvin Eugene Parkinson II, 69, of Levelland, were held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 24, at First Baptist Church.
Interment followed in the City of Levelland Cemetery under the direction of Krestridge Funeral Home.
Visitation was held from 6:30 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 23 at Krestridge Funeral Home.
He was born July 29, 1950 in Levelland to Gene and Geneva Parkinson. Melvin graduated from Levelland High School in 1969. He married Jan Fred on June 4, 1971. Melvin and Jan made their home in Levelland for 49 years.
For most of his working career, Melvin worked for Parkinson Electronics. At the time of his illness, he was working at South Plains College taking care of the farm.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gene and Geneva Parkinson; brother, Mickey Parkinson; and granddaughter, Tayla Parkinson.
Melvin is survived by his wife, Jan Parkinson; daughters, Janay (Cody) Crenshaw, Mendy Parkinson and Tyler Parkinson; sons, Monty (Robyn) Parkinson and Jonny (Amber) Parkinson; brothers, Terry (Katherine) Parkinson and Tommy Parkinson; sister, Toni (Terry) Wilson; and five grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to South Plains College Foundation in memory of Melvin Parkinson, 1401 S. College, Levelland Texas 79336; or First Baptist Church Nursery, P.O. Box 700, Levelland Texas 79336.
